The Complete Weight Loss and Muscle Gain System for You

02 May

Before choosing the most advanced and highly recommended weight loss system, you need to know the basic terms of weight loss. There are three terms – hunger, appetite and satiety that are commonly used in any weight loss program. Here in this article you will come to know what these terms exactly mean.

1. Hunger: Hunger is defined as a craving for food and it is associated with a number of objective sensations. For instance, in a person who has not had food for many hours the stomach undergoes intense rhythmic contractions called hunger contractions. These cause a tight or gnawing feeling in the pit of the stomach and sometimes actually cause pain called hunger pangs. In addition to the hunger pangs the hungry person also becomes more tense and restless than usual.

Some physiologists actually define hunger as contractions of the stomach. However, even after the hunger is completely removed the psychic sensations of hunger still occur and craving for food still makes the person search for an adequate food supply.

2. Appetite: Appetite is often defined in the same sense as hunger except that is usually implies a desire for specific types of food instead of food in general. Therefore, an appetite helps a person choose the quality of food to eat.

3. Satiety: The term ‘satiety’ is the opposite of hunger. It means a feeling of fulfillment in the quest for food. Satiety usually results from a full meal, particularly when the person’s nutritional storage depots, the adipose tissue and the glycogen stores are already filled.
