I should also make it clear that my work out options are limited to simply doing push-ups. I’m a poor college kid so I can’t afford a gym membership right now.. Suggestions here are welcome.
Back to my original question, I’ve been mulling over some supplements such as whey protein, rice protein, or creatine. I’m not sure what would be good but if you have any suggestions of how to best build muscles and what to use to help, I’d much appreciate it.
First start off with whole foods that are high in high quality protein— milk, chicken, lean beef and Egg. Low glycemic carbs except right after a workout when you want simple carbs. Don’t ever ever ever buy from GNC check out protein specialty websites. Right now you can go to trueprotein.com and get 50Lbs of Ultra Whey protein isolate for like $250. That is a lot of protein ….so either split it with a few people or you could easily make a profit off this stuff (there is also a 25 Lb for $130) this is the same stuff you buy at a local store for $15/lb. There is a 5% disc code (MKW154) that will bring the price down a bit. It is kind of cool to watch peoples reaction to you "cutting" 50 Lbs of white powder.

I recommend hard work. And you can do a lot outside of the gym, but that is not my area of expertise.

Whey protein would be a good pick. But remember, supplements are for someone who already has a sound training and nutrtional program.
Make sure to eat as much protein as possible.
I would choose Whey protein first, or a whey/casein mix if you can afford it. Creatine is usually fairly cheap. But I would focus on my diet and training first.

I would recommend suplements which you can readibly purchase on a consistent basis and don’t cost that much. I’d recommend "SIX STAR"
PROFESSIONAL STRENGTH WHEY PROTEIN AND ALSO CREATINE; they can be purchased at any Walmart store in the Health and Fitness section for about $18 each. Both should be taken 15 to 30 minutes prior to and after one works out. On rest days, consume both in the morning only.

I actually work in a supplement store just outside of Brisbane and i wont be the first to tell you that there’s almost to much product on the market these days, making it extremely difficult to obtain any sort of idea on what to take. Going off what you wrote in your question, i think a simple blend of protein would definitely be adequate for your needs, benefiting you greatly. Aside from supplementation, try to maintain a diet consisting of relatively clean foods, remember, diet can either make or break muscle gains so don;t think you can put in a little exercise and purchase a protein and expect to get up on stage next month. Diet plays a major role and don’t you forget it!
Good luck!

BCAAs (branched cahin amino acids) are really good becuase they are used to make up a majority of the large muscles in the body and are essential, meaning the body cannot produce them, they must be synthesised from the food we eat. leucine, isoleucine, and valine are the three bcaa aminos.
Arginine is another good supliment, it is non-essential (the body can produce it) but helps the body produce NO (nitris oxide) with expands the blood vessles and allows more blood to flow to the muscles.
Glutamine is the most abundant in the body and is also important for muscle growth. It also increases hormone production, which will increase muscle growth, sex drive, energy, etc. It helps to keep muscles from eating, other muscle tissue because there is enough available for other muscles.
Creatine is good because it makes the muscles more hydrated, they become more volumized, it creates more energy, and promotes protein synthesis, good for muscles growth and repair.
If you want results, drink lots of water throughout the day, eat big helpings of veggies and salads with every lunch and dinner. Eat lots of good natural servings of protein: such as tuna, chicken, steak, nuts, etc. You can add some whey protein in there, but really, if you eat enough natural protein and get the aminos, that’s the best way to go. try to stay away from a excessive soy protein, since soy contains estrogen. Eat mostly natural items, and cut out things that are processed: chips, noodles, candy, sugar. Snacking slows up the digestion, and nutrient/protien absorbtion, so try to stick to three solid meals. good luck
